With alternating current it was possible to electrify rural or hard to reach places. It was suggested because, in 1930 90% of America's urban residents had access to electricity but only 10% of America's rural residents. As the progress continued during the New Deal giving jobs to people in 1939 around 25% of America's farms were electrified, in 1942 about 50% of America's farms were electrified, then in the 1950s about all farms were electrified with America's urban cities.
